  • Partnership Director at Enterprise Plc

Reporting to the Managing Director of the Utilities Division of Enterprise I was approached to nurture the existing Power-based business of Enterprise by developing long-term relationships with key clients in the Electricity industry. Key to this is to develop relationships that exhibit partnering and alliancing as their primary traits, concentrating on customer service and challenging conventional client-contractor relationships. I also serve on the Board of the National Skills Academy for Power, which is part of Energy and Utility Skills. Since joining Enterprise I have led the addition of over ?600 million of order book through organic growth and assisted with strategic acquisitions.

  • Operations Director at Bethell Power Services

Reporting to the Chief Executive of Bethell Group plc I was approached to consolidate the existing organisation of Bethell, whilst building on the company's previous successes to grow the business and ensure a long-term profitable future. My team consisted of six functional managers who in turn employed 500 staff and specialist subcontractors, delivering an annual revenue of ?50 million which was largely labour-only. I led the business into adding over ?100 million of order book to the portfolio through organic growth and securing long-term framework contracts with blue-chip clients in the Electricity Industry. I succeeded in significantly improving the health and safety performance of the organisation, bringing the Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) down from 1.0 to 0.3 in twelve months, and I also led the organisation into achieving new accreditations for OHSAS 18001 and Lloyds' Electrical Safety Management (ESM).

  • Operations Director at CE Electric UK

Reporting to the Managing Director I was responsible for directing and co-ordinating the operations of IUS. My team consisted of eight functional managers who in turn employed circa. 350 direct staff and 500 subcontract staff that I was ultimately responsible for. My team delivered an annual revenue of ?70 million which was largely labour-only, and I was also accountable for: ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality; long-term resource planning; ensuring that commercial contracts are administered effectively to meet revenue and profit targets; and leading the business into the award of international accreditations for HSQE standards. I was central to leading IUS into signing a labour-only four-year contract (with five-year option to extend) with E.ON UK in 2006 worth a minimum of ?100m (plus ?125m option) in revenue. During this period I also spent four separate short-term assignments in the USA for MEHC during its acquisition and integration of Pacificorp. These assignments were spent at MidAmerican Energy and Pacificorp facilities in Omaha, NE; Salt Lake City, UT; and Portland, OR to assist with the commercial negotiations for the acquisition of renewable wind resources in Iowa, Oregon and Washington.
